Olamilekan Adekunjo is a Nigerian-born, UK-based conceptual artist whose practice explores emotion, identity, movement, and the human condition through photography. Born and raised in Lagos, a city defined by energy, rhythm, and constant motion. His early environment shaped a deep sensitivity to life in transition, a theme that continues to inform his work today.
What began as a personal interest in photography gradually evolved into a disciplined creative practice. Initially drawn to photography as a hobby, Olamilekan used the camera as a tool for observation, capturing moments, people, and environments instinctively. Over time, this curiosity matured into a deliberate exploration of storytelling, emotion, and meaning beyond the surface of the image.
With a background in English Language from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, his understanding of narrative, metaphor, and structure deeply informs his visual language. His progression into cinematography further sharpened his sense of timing, atmosphere, and emotional pacing , elements that now define his conceptual photographic work.
Working under OV Gallery, Olamilekan’s practice has moved beyond documentation into conceptual inquiry. His work transforms photography into a medium of reflection, using motion, light, space, and silence as visual metaphors. Through bodies of work such as Tide of Life, he examines themes of belonging, cultural identity, marginalisation, stillness, and transcendence.
OV Gallery represents this evolution, a space dedicated to images that are not merely seen, but felt. Each work invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and engage with the quiet narratives that exist within everyday life.
